ABOUT US...

Geelong RSL Pipes and Drums was formed in 2002 after it's predecessor, Geelong Ladies Pipe Band, evolved to become a mixed band. We wear the Red Robertson Tartan, which was made locally at the Soldiers Mill in Pakington Street.

 

We facilitate learning opportunities for anyone who wishes to learn the bagpipes or drums. The Band participates in community events and public performances, and is Geelong’s only competing pipe band.

We welcome enquiries to hire our Band to play at any event or special occasion. If the requirement is for a solo piper or a mini band, this can also be arranged. Please contact us so we can provide a quote according to your specific needs.

OUR VISION...

 

First and foremost, we actively participate at Victorian pipe band contests. Our primary focus is to continually improve our individual and collective standards of technical performance. This involves ongoing education and training with world class tutors, and an awareness of trends in the contemporary piping and drumming world.

 

We will continue to support our local community with a variety of social engagements, and to present music which is well crafted, interesting and contemporary, whilst acknowledging and respecting the tradition of pipe band music and it's Scottish heritage. We hope to expose our craft to those for whom it is not familiar, and encourage new learners.
